Inflation continued to rise, reaching 8.08 percent.

In Nepal, inflation has been on the rise since the first month of the current fiscal year. Inflation is still under pressure even after reaching the fourth month. The Government of Nepal and the Nepal Rastra Bank have set a target of keeping inflation within 7 percent.

 

Inflation has been seen at 8.08 percent in the first quarter. Annual point consumer inflation was 8.50 percent till mid-October. Until the end of November of the previous year, inflation was only 6.04 percent.

 

In the current year, the inflation of food and beverages group is 7.38 percent and the inflation of non-food and services group is 8.63 percent, according to the report of Nepal Rastra Bank.

 

Looking at subgroups, prices have increased by 15.97 percent in restaurants and hotels. Compared to that, the prices of tobacco products and alcohol have increased less. In this, only 9.33 percent price has been found to have increased. The price of food and food products has increased by 9.19 percent and that of alcohol by 8.84 percent. The price increase is the highest in Terai at 8.52 percent, in the hills at 8.03 percent and in the Himalayas at 6.68 percent. It is 7.56 percent in Kathmandu Valley.
